My main goal when working with a client is above all to meet them where they are at, creating a safe space for them to explore their life. Throughout their exploration into finding their true and authentic self, they will gain insight into their lives both past and present, what has and hasn’t worked, and use that knowledge to reclaim their thoughts, behaviors, and overall lives to find meaning and personal growth.

EMDR TRAUma Counseling

Trauma Counseling EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) is a trauma treatment. The focus of EMDR is to assist clients in reprocessing through relearning and revisiting early life experiences and or incidents that contribute to their current day symptoms. In doing so, it allows clients’ older memories to be stored correctly in the brain so they are no longer triggered by their thoughts, emotions, and or sensory perceptions. EMDR therapy is a pretty revolutionary type of treatment that treats both the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind. It's considered an effective way to treat trauma and other mental health issues. The premise behind EMDR therapy is that traumatic events can cause a negative imprint in the brain which can lead to problems later on. It's like a traumatic event has created a roadblock in your mind, and you need some help getting around it. What does EMDR do? First, it helps clients uncover the negative beliefs that developed as a result of earlier life experiences. Second, it helps them to remove these negative beliefs. Finally, EMDR therapists assist clients in replacing the negative beliefs with positive, adaptive beliefs about themselves. This can be done by having clients focus on their traumatic event while recalling images from their past that are associated with it and/or by having them focus on positive images or thoughts associated with the problem being treated.
